The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Preview Arrives, Revealing Fresh Faces Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voices
The collaboration between Nintendo and Illumination released the debut comprehensive teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie on Wednesday. This occurred during a dedicated Nintendo presentation that highlighted the forthcoming animated feature.
The sequel to the 2023 hit film The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this fresh entry will propel Mario to the outer limits of the universe. There, he will encounter a different royal figure and a challenging new adversary in Bowser Jr., the offspring of the Koopa King.
A Cosmic Adventure Drawing from Classic Games
Similar to the games from the Wii period that serve as its inspiration, Mario will leave behind the cozy environment of the Mushroom Kingdom to journey through the cosmos. Throughout his extensive trek, he will reunite with some recognizable characters, such as the Luma, a fan favorite from the original cinematic release.
However, it seems Mario and his sibling Luigi will face a fresh enemy in the form of Bowser's angry little boy, who reportedly wields metal-based powers. Notably, the trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not exclusively centered on Galaxy-themed scenes; it also features references to further iconic releases like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
All-Star Vocal Ensemble Reprise Roles and Welcome Newcomers
The film will see the return of the original voice cast, with Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
New additions to the ensemble for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will voice Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to embody Bowser Jr. It was announced by Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri.
Mario's Major Moment
The new Mario movie is planned to debut around the time of the 40-year celebration of the initial Super Mario Bros. release. Beyond the film, 2026 is shaping up to be a major period for Mario and his companions.
Nintendo has a trio of new releases publicly declared for the upcoming year, including Mario Tennis Fever, a version for Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a fresh Yoshi side-scroller titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Release Date Confirmed
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is scheduled to hit theaters on April 3, 2026.
