One-time National Football League Star Antonio Brown Files Innocent Response in Murder Attempt Case
Ex- NFL player Antonio Brown is traveling to Miami to address an attempted murder charge stemming from a gunfire that occurred in May, as his counsel filing a not guilty response on his behalf.
Jail records in Essex, New Jersey, show that Brown was released on Tuesday early for his relocation to Florida. Brown, among the most famous figures in the National Football League, had relinquished transfer to Florida from New Jersey, in which he was detained after being taken into custody in Dubai.
Brown’s counsel, Mark Eiglarsh, mentioned in an email that he has previously lodged a written not guilty plea to the murder attempt allegation. Brown could be in a Miami hearing as early as Wednesday morning for a bond proceeding, Eiglarsh added.
Based on his detention order, Brown is charged of seizing a pistol from a safety staffer after a star boxing bout in May and firing multiple bullets at a man he had fought with before. The alleged target, Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu, informed authorities that a bullet scraped his nape.
Eiglarsh said that Brown was simply safeguarding himself from Nantambu.
“The steps he was obliged to take were purely in defense against the claimed individual’s violent conduct. Brown was attacked that time and acted within his rightful entitlement to safeguard himself,” Eiglarsh stated.
Brown was not right away detained because originally officers did not consider Nantambu as a victim. It only subsequently in May that Nantambu gave a full account about the situation to officers and named Brown as the gunman, the document states.
Based on his digital content, Brown had been staying in Dubai for a number of period. In a post after the incident, Brown claimed he was defending himself because he was “assaulted by several individuals who tried to take my valuables and cause bodily harm to me.”
A second-degree murder attempt accusation in the state of Florida bears a maximum fifteen-year prison penalty and up to a $10,000 fine in the case of a conviction.
Brown has dealt with several judicial problems over the time. He before had been charged of assault of a truck operator, several family violence accusations, failure to pay child support and additional incidents.
In a recent match with his team against the opponents, Brown stripped off his uniform, protective gear and accessories and left the arena, resulting in his dismissal by the Buccaneers and practically halting his football tenure.
Brown, who completed 12 years in the National Football League, was an All-Pro player who passed the bulk of his career with the Steelers. Throughout his time, Brown had over 900 grabs for over 12,291 yards, the 28th most of history. He was a seven-time Pro Bowl choice.
