AC Shadows Unveils Unexpected Attack on Titan Collaboration for Thanksgiving
In a bizarre crossover event that breaks usual expectations, the game developer has revealed an virtual partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected holiday event continues from November 25 through December 22, including complimentary additional story content for Shadows players.
Strange Mission Revealed
According to the authorized release, "A mysterious encounter leads protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh quest, where rumors of prohibited practices and fearsome transformations reverberate through the darkness." The narrative features a "oddly dressed woman named Ada" who tasks the pair with traveling into the Crystalline Cavern—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her ally from a secret sect.
The adventure concentrates on "peculiar trials and a terrifying adversary" and is open to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.
Recognizable Places and Metamorphoses
The preview features the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This important location was previously where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through ages. The teaser ends with a striking sequence showing a character, likely the hostage, morphing into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.
Unique Items and Additional Material
Players who successfully complete the quest will obtain an exclusive katana in addition to multiple objects secreted throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also features in-store Attack on Titan item packs, including:
- Titan-based outfit for Yasuke
- Mikasa outfit for Naoe
- Special arms
- Survey Corps steed
Third Free Story Addition
This update also introduces the game's newest free story content, titled "The Enigma." This lighthearted mission teams Naoe and Yasuke as they swap characteristic skills: Naoe reveals a performative variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns non-lethal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "A Puzzlement" also includes a fresh environmental puzzle that may eventually explain some lingering questions from the main storyline.

This represents not the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with well-known anime series. The series previously included a 2020 collaborative story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
